Anyone know of good electives this summer? I was thinking about CMPT 165 in Surrey with Harinder Khangura, but I'm not sure how time-consuming it would be. How long do the assignments and stuff take to do (for someone with a bit of HTML, but no Python)? Also, for CMPT 165, how much time needs to be put in for studying for the final? I want to make sure I have adequate time to prepare for such an exam so I don't absolutely bomb it. I have MATH 157 and BUEC 232 also this summer, so I want a class that I won't have to worry about as much, but I'm willing to put the work in if needed.

Or any other recommended electives would be appreciated. Thanks ;)

I figured, what better place to try to find new members?

Club for the Cure is always looking for new members, whether general or execs. Every year we're responsible for organizing fundraisers or participating in external fundraisers for various cancer organizations. Our biggest event of the year is always Balding for Dollars, which takes place every March in Convo Mall.

To get to the point, we're always looking for new people who want to get involved on campus and contribute to a good cause. We recently voted in favour of changing our club constitution to elect execs in the beginning of summer/end of spring. These execs would hold their position for an entire year, unless they want to bow out for whatever reason, in which case a replacement would be elected.

If you're interested in becoming a general member (attend monthly meetings, can volunteer in our various events), or if you instantly are interested in becoming an executive, email us at thecure@sfu.ca.

Exec positions for new members are generally limited to being a general executive, where you attend the weekly meetings and help with whatever is needed, but obviously there are exceptions based on past or current experience in other exec positions in different clubs. If you're interested, send in an email to the previously mentioned address and we can let you know more details. Elections for this year's exec positions are taking place on Friday, May 21st. If you aren't in the Lower Mainland during the summer term or are unavailable that day, all you have to do is fill out an application form and write a small speech that would be read for you at the meeting. All voting is done through Websurvey, so you could still participate in the voting.

So yeah, thanks to all those who read this and we hope to hear from you.

Communication has got to be one of the most unpredictable courses that I've ever taken. It seems like I'm forever stuck in a B+ rut. I'd go through a whole semester getting grades within the A-range for most of my assignments (if not all), and still end up getting a B+ for the entire course. I participate in class discussions regularly, so that should count for something. What am I doing wrong here? Do TAs calculate each student's overall percentage or do they look at your overall performance and decide how to grade you? Like say if a student gets A, A- ,A-, B for his assignments, does the B significantly decreases his overall percentage? Anyway, any form of help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
