I'm in my 4th year and I'm worried. I have NO experience relating to what I ultimately want to do and cant really get any since I'm going to school full-time and dont have any time to work at a job that would be relevant.

Im worried that Im gonna graduate and make only $30,000 a year to start and not even end up working in the field that I want to.

Also, do you think having volunteer stuff on your resume helps at all or is it just a waste of time. Oh surprise there, I dont have any of that either.

Sometimes I just feel like going to University is a complete waste of time.

I'm talking about doing regular, every day shit and something goes wrong and you end up injured. (These usually make funny stories, but that's just how I look at it.)

Mine? Well...back in July I was giving my cat a bath. He's a very slow shedder, and he still hasn't gotten rid of all his winter coat, so I thought I'd help that along. Plus, he was dirty anyway. I did the usual...kitty proofed the bathroom (nothing cloth-material he can cling on), got into some really ratty clothes, the usual stuff. He's squirming and meowing, letting me know how much he really hates me right now.

Mid-shampoo, he bites down on my hand, right in between my thumb and the rest of my fingers. And he bites HARD! I felt a jolt go up my spinal cord and all I thought was "Oh shit, he hit something." I splashed his face with water and he finally let go, fucker held on like a snake. Finished his bath, took a look at the damage. My hand was easilly 5x the size of normal. I couldn't move it, let alone make a fit or anything. The swelling started to go down about 3 days after it happened (ironically, on the day I said "If it doesnt go down today, I'm going for an xray), though it didn't go away completely until after a week. I didn't get full use of my hand until recently, actually, because it still hurt to open jars and shit.

Psychologist helps with Whitecaps' head space

The Vancouver Whitecaps have had two meetings with Simon Fraser University sports psychologist David Cox to prepare for tonight's exhibition game against David Beckham and Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy at BC Place Stadium.

Caps interim head coach Todd Wawrousek said Tuesday the meetings were arranged to help the team's younger players cope with an expected crowd of about 45,000.

"Some of our players have never played in front of a crowd of this size," said Wawrousek. "We thought it would be a good idea to have a couple of meetings with David Cox, who has a very good reputation of helping athletes in a variety of ways. I'm sure some of our players are going to be nervous going into [tonight's] game."

Martin Nash isn't one of them. The 31-year-old midfielder recently concluded his seventh USL First Division season with the Whitecaps and is also a veteran Canadian international.

"Our objective is to win the game and put on a good show for the fans at the same time," said Nash. "It's important that all of our players be comfortable in a big-game setting before a large crowd. I've played in front of some big crowds in my career and know how unsettling that can be for a young player."

Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi said Tuesday that ticket sales for tonight's game were about 42,000, adding that he expects the final number to be more than 45,000 when walk-up sales are factored in.
