I'm fairly certain all the workers there are mere peons that gets a base wage, hence they consist of mainly the most marginal of the population. Regardless, with the past couple experiences, I find their service ridiculously bad.

Today I was at McKenzies buying chili since I was dumb enough to not bring ample amount of food to feed myself. The girl that was two place infront of me apparently misheard the cashier lady when she said 5.04 since she only paid a 5 and was starting to walk away. The cashier lady practically screamed for her saying its 5.04 asking for the extra 4 cents. So the poor girl comes back digging through her change purse or w/e looking for a nickel.

For anyone that hasnt been to McKenzies, the cashier stands in the middle with two lines going from either side. So by the time I was next to check out, meaning 3 more customers have come and gone, the poor girl was still digging for 4 cents. Anyways, I got to the cashier with my chili, and the bitch of a cashier just stuck her hand out at me. I was just wow, in lack of a better word, stunned. Did she expect me to know how much the chili is? She didnt bother ringing up my chilli and had the nerve to just stand there with her hand stuck out at me. After an awkward 10 or 15 seconds, I shrugged my shoulders notioning WHAT THE FUCK YOU WANT ME TO PAY. So she rings it up, tells me 3.30
I pay her two tunies and she fucking gives me 68 cents in change. While the poor girl looks for 4 cents, she fucking penny pinches me for 2. Honestly, what the fuck. I didnt feel like making a deal out of two cents, but wow...I mean, you think the overpriced food is making them enough of a killing they dont need to like ye know, steal 2 cents? Or at least hmm, say the price right if it is actually 3.32?

For me, it's a recent film. Darren Aronofsky's "The Fountain"... I think this may be one of the finest films I've ever seen. Yet it's a love it or hate it film, and a lot of people hate it. When it ran at the Toronto film festival, the first night it was shown to a crowd of critics. Apparently, they were boo'ing within the first 10 minutes, several walked out. The next night, it was shown to a public crowd, and recieved a 10 minute standing ovation at the end. (or vice versa, you get the idea).

I've got it 'on file', but have been waiting since I saw it in theaters to buy the DVD. (I don't 'buy' many dvds these days). But this one I will.

Ideally, I'd go into academia, but becoming a professor is so difficult! so there might be another way, I just don't know how. maybe University of Manitoba or some university in Siberia (maybe that's a good reason to learn Russian).

The problem is that my unconscious mind can't keep up with my conscious thoughts. That's why when I'm flying the dream slows down and I don't seem to get anywhere. It's like "lag," and I think it's caused by the subconscious mechanisms in the dream having trouble generating places for me to go.

In another instance, if I'm talking with someone and I ask them a question, if I start waiting to find out what they're going to say the dream will often 'freeze' and crash. In other words, I awaken. I think the reason is that my unconscious has trouble answering situations called for within the dream.

Do you girls find that sense of humor is high on your list of qualities in the ideal mate?
Do you guys prefer funny girls?
I understand why guys like girls who laugh at their jokes (compatibility). But studies are showing that they have no preference for girls who make them laugh, if their objective is to enter a relationship with these girls. Isn't the latter a case of compatibility as well?

I always ask my girlfriends, and they always say they like funny guys. I don't understand WHY. Could you explain that? Growing up, I always associated humor with girls. I don't find a sense of humor, especially if consciously displayed, to be a huge plus.

Unlike some schools in the Washington area, which ban fighting or inappropriate touching, Kilmer Middle School in Vienna bans all touching — and that has some parents lobbying for a change.

Hugging was Hal Beaulieu's crime when he sat next to his girlfriend at lunch a few months ago and put his arm around her shoulder. He was given a warning, but told that repeat missteps could lead to detention.

"I think hugging is a good thing," said Hal, a seventh-grader. "I put my arm around her. It was like for 15 seconds. I didn't think it would be a big deal."

But at a school of 1,100 students that was meant to accommodate 850, school officials think some touching can turn into a big deal. They've seen pokes lead to fights, gang signs in the form of handshakes or girls who are uncomfortable being hugged but embarrassed to say anything.

"You get into shades of gray," Kilmer Principal Deborah Hernandez said. "The kids say, 'If he can high-five, then I can do this.' "

Hernandez said the no-touching rule is meant to ensure that all students are comfortable and crowded hallways and lunchrooms stay safe. She said school officials are allowed to use their judgment in enforcing the rule. Typically, only repeat offenders are reprimanded.

'Making out goes too far'
But such a strict policy doesn't seem necessary to 13-year-old Hal and his parents, who have written a letter to the county school board asking for a review of the rule. Hugging is encouraged in their home, and their son has been taught to greet someone with a handshake.

Hal said he feels he knows what's appropriate and what's not.

"I think you should be able to shake hands, high-five and maybe a quick hug," he said. "Making out goes too far."

His parents said they agree that teenagers need to have clear limits but don't want their son to be taught that physical contact is bad.

"How do kids learn what's right and what's wrong?" Henri Beaulieu asked. "They are all smart kids, and they can draw lines. If they cross them, they can get in trouble. But I don't think it would happen too often."

In highschool, I had tons of friends and was able to make them quickly and easily, I guess partly because we were in the same classes together, yadda yadda yadda. But I found that once highschool ended, so did a lot of those friendships. I stayed in touch with one good friend for about two years, and then we just stopped hanging out, mostly because we went to different post-secondary schools (I went to SFU, and she went to Cap College). She began to resent me for going to SFU because she really wanted to go and couldnt get in. Other "friends" from highschool are no more than mere acquaintances really that I talk to on facebook every now and then ("how are you? Havent seen you in forever!", blah blah blah).

During university, I would hardly say that I have made friends. They are, again, acquaintances that I talk to in class and on msn when we're frantically writing last minute papers. I dont really talk to them outside of the classroom setting.

Through other people, ive made friends, but to be honest with you, they've mostly been guys. Its pretty easy for me to make friends with guys, although I know that most of them prolly wanna hook up and thats why we talk and hang out occassionally....I dont want to hook up with them btw, I have a great bf.

What I'm saying is, I want to make new friends that are GIRLS! Girls that I can talk to, go shopping with, watch movies with, drink with, whatever! And frankly, its pissing me off that I cant seem to make any cuz I honestly dont know where to look, as dumb as that sounds.

I joined an all-girls soccer scrimmage league, and all of the "girls" were older women. Fine, i guess, but im looking for girls around my age (im 21 turing 22). I get frustrated, cuz ive joined a pilates class a few years ago, and all of the girls there (surprise surprise!) were there with a friend, and its so god-damned hard to just "join" into an already existing friendship.
