My plan is to go in the 2nd week of August. Looks like I'd pay about $700 one way (there is a student discount of 35%), and it takes 4 days. I'd be using the economy class which means no bed (just chairs that look a lot like airplane chairs).

The first train is Vancouver to Toronto:


And the second is Toronto to Montreal:


And the third is Montreal to Halifax:


I'd be going by myself and visiting my best friend who now lives in northern Nova Scotia. I'd probably stay for two weeks then fly home. The flight home will cost about $299 if I book it by tomorrow night (seat sale at West Jet).

The whole plan is so insane it excites the hell out of me. And I haven't seen my friend in a few years and I want to see her so badly I'd WALK to Halifax... so this is a good blend of what I really want and what I've wanted to do for a long time.

Thoughts, suggestions? Anyways, I'm taking this summer off from school and the first month just flew by because there were so many things I had to catch up on at home (ie. friends, family, clean room). But ever since June's come around, and with the weather being so crappy I'm getting so bored. Anyone have any suggestions for couple books I can get through while I'm sitting around on my porch doing nothing. I like canadian writers like Margaret Atwood and Ethel Wilson, but any type of story about interpersonal relations would be good. I can't belive at 5'9 how much crap I get for being short. I'll be sitting at a bar, like today, and a girl says I'm cute and starts flirting. She's decent looking, but not a super model. When I stand up, she says, "oh well, I wish you were taller." Huh? Isn't Tom cruise 5'7????

Tuition is bad enough as it is, but it's a necessary evil and understandable. Book prices, on the other hand are overinflated and dare I say a very sneaky method of extortion by the book companies. Sure they can justify it by in one way or another, but paying 160$ for a bio textbook is just crazy.
