Okay, I wanted to try something that came to me while I was at school snapping some pictures on my phone. I don't know if this will fly, but I guess we could give it a try anyway.

So, the idea is, and I'll go first, I take a picture somewhere on SFU campus, and the object of the game is to find where I took the picture, and try and take an identical picture (or at least one that is from the same perspective. Try to recreate it as closely as possible). And then, whoever accomplishes that, gets to present the next picture, and so forth. It'll be slow-moving, probably, but in my crazy mind, I thought it would be fun.

So here's the first picture:

If anybody needs help hosting pictures, or any other files, let me know, I have plenty of space on my webserver.

I've been with my boyfriend for almost 14 months but I'm getting bored. I don't know why... I think it might be because we're in a long distance relationship. We've been long distance for half the time we've been together. He doesn't do any of the "surprises" or out-of-the-blue kind of things anymore. No surprises, nothing. Everything is the same. Everyday is a routine.

Has anyone felt like this before? I miss the first few months of the relationship in the "heads over heels" stage. We fight a lot. We have always argued and fought. But during the first few months, it didn't matter much. But now, being together this long, and being so far away from eachother, although we fight less than before, everytime it happens, it's very very bad.

I also miss the chase. Although if at times it meant rejection, I miss it. I miss going after guys. I don't have any guy in mind but I just miss it. I miss some aspects of single life. I miss the butterflies-in-the-stomach kind of feeling.

I love him and all but how can we make it work? How can we find away to excite our relationship being so far away from eachother? He visits about once every 3 months. Is it bad that I'm feeling bored?? Is it normal to feel this way even though you love someone?

I reeeeally despise being forced to do groupwork in university. It really is a ridiculous format for teaching and learning! Sadly, they use it a lot in first year courses and since I'm taking 2 minors and trying to get into PDP (which has lots of varied requirements), I'm in a lot of first year courses...

The stupidity of groupwork:
- having to teach your group members
- having groupmembers not understanding the work, and confusing others
- trying to organize the work evenly
- dealing with slackers
- dealing with overachievers
- arranging meeting times outside of class (hard to do with different schedules!)
- being stuck with keeners who want to do hours and hours of work for a project worth a very small percent of the final grade
- having to work with people you don't know
- your grade depending on the work (or lack thereof) of others
- people not comprehending that you are taking FOUR OTHER COURSES and really you don't give a crap about the assignment that's worth 10%...

Oh and I'm also tired of dealing with tons of emails from these people all at the LAST minute trying to arrange things when I'd written them weeks before with no response.

Really, the amount of time we have to put in just to deal with everyone makes it an absolute joke.

Just wondering if anyone has had any success disputing a speeding ticket recently? I heard years ago that if you showed up for your court date and the cop didn't that you were off the hook. I believe they have patched up this loophole so my question is can you plea that you are a poor student to have the fine reduced? or are you just delaying the inevitable by disputing it and eventually end up paying? Anyone know anyone or had luck with this? Also heard a rumor that if you over pay the ticket they send you a refund say for 2-4 bucks or whatever you over sent for...then if you dont cash that cheque itll never count against you points wise? any myths or suggestions would be cool

Musically I'm going through a sort of 60's phase right now, so I've been listening to a lot of Bob Dylan and Lou Reed. What I realised was that listening to this music has the same effect on me as reading certain types of poetry.

It's been bugging me, so I have to ask - what do you think distinguishes song lyrics from poetry? Is there any difference?

Also, how far would you go? I think Bob Dylan is widely accepted as a poet, but what about Pete Doherty? Or Morrissey? Or Scissor Sisters? Or the Spice Girls?

the other day when i was reading the newspaper on the coverage of this event.. i could help but feel offended by some crude comments made by people about students.. one apparent comment that ticked me off (and still bugs me) is that they've seen many university students that have the newest generation of the ipod and thus it should clearly reflect that they have the ability to support themselves if only they would spend less on unecessary gadgets...

okay.. so i have an ipod.. so what? it was a gift from my aunt not something that i would've bought myself.. but nonetheless i find it very naive and foolish of them to conclude such a comment.. what about those who can't afford one? does the fact that other students have the ability to afford it make the problem less significant than it is?

or what about i offer an anology.. a representative comes in and wants to evaluate the city of vancouver.. they see big houses.. apartments and penthouses located in the burrard inlet.. a beautiful city hall.. and a overly luxurious law court whereby the very court room that Robert Pickton is tried on was built for the sole purpose of trying an aircraft collision that happened 14 years ago.. this person sees all these assets of Vancouver and concludes that it is a wealthy city.. but in truth.. can this be truly said about Vancouver? has this person ever considered going down to the street of Hastings or perhaps take a walk downtown and observe the lives of the poor and homeless? i would dare say that this representative would definitely consider a re-evaluation of the city..

the point is these people aren't seeing the big picture.. rather they choose to focus on a small scenario.. criticizing its flaws and imperfections then applying it to the picture wholly to doubt its credibility.. stupid STUUPID politicians!!

and how dare they compare education spending to the spending of goods and services making it seem that we aren't paying outrageous amounts of money.. anyone in the right mind can see that only students pay tuition fees and any other spending related to education where as all Canadians contribute to GDP.. and to say that the average yearly inflation is 2% and tuition has only risen 1.9% doesn't justify the fact that education isn't expensive.. i'm about to finish off my 2nd year here and i still can't bring myself to register the fact that i have a 10K debt burden upon me already..

moreover.. it has been confirmed that Canadian univeristies have gotten themselves a 400 million revenue after the tuition freeze was removed.. that just shows how much they've ripped off from students..

so for those who participate in the national walkout day of feb 7th.. i sincerely like to thank anyone of you who supported the event.. =) let's just hope that the government would not dismiss this event as an act of foolishness by students who they think know nothing more than just textbooks and papers...
