Hey guys,

Just wondering what your xmas/holiday traditions are around your house? My mom is not feeling the spirit this year and isn't putting up a tree (my 21 year old bro is pissed about that!). And my aunt usually cooks the turkey, but she's on strike cuz she's sick of cooking for everyone (I really can't blame her, I would've packed it in years ago!).

Anyway, I have a cousin (she's 11) and my brother who both REALLY look forward to Christmas day. We aren't religious, but they like the festivities and the family time. I just like to see my family and treat them to some thoughtful gifts.

So we're stumped on what to do this year. It's turning into a segregated thing where my mom will cook, but only for some of us, thereby splitting up our family (lame).

What does your family do? Any suggestions for me? I want to try to save the day for my bro and cousin. Thanks!

i'm wondering about Calculus prerequisites for Chemistry + Biology courses.

i know Math 154 is more focused on Biological and Medical calculus, but will it suffice if i'm taking Chem 121 (and planning on continuing to 126 + 200-level courses later)? or is Math 151 a better choice? or do they both teach relatively the same material?

i was also reading that Physics 101 is recommended for the class...but do you think it's manageable without it (i can't seem to do physics...)

i already have Math 157 under my belt--which i did well in (could've done better if i had tried harder), but i think Math 157 feigns in comparison to the more scientific-oriented calculus...

what do you guys think? will Math 154 be enough to get through the Chem courses?

Generally i've been a mix between an artsy person and a sciencey person. i love media and looking into getting into business marketing and advertising.

on the other hand (and this is where the title of thread fits in), I also feel like I want to get into medicine. I have always done well in the sciences, and I do have a passion for it. I am not looking to get a Bachelor of science though, because I am not looking for any careers in that field, but i am very interested in Medicine.

what do you guys think if i pursue a regular BBA in advertising, while in the summer i take the prereqs for Med school (under UBC's requirements) over the course of several summers? these are two things I have a passion for, and call me stubborn, but I do feel as if i can do it...hmm.. yeah just a thought, any input is appreciated!

I'm feeling more and more frustrated with line-ups lately! It seems as though everyone has forgotten that lesson from grade school when we learned how to stand in a line, not step on anyone's toes, not budge, not shove the person in front of us, and not push to be in the front.

My top 3 lining up nightmares within the past week:

3. McDonalds - 2 tills open, I pick a line. Till 3 opens, I wait for those in front of me to go for it; they don't, so I do. This puts me parallel with the guy who was 3 people ahead of me a minute ago. So when the Mc-Clerk comes back to serve me, he decides to shove in front of me. Then he starts yelling about how there was one line. So I looked at all the people in the NEW line behind me and proceeded to order my food. Not sure when it became okay just to pick whatever line you wanted, regardless of who was there first.

2. Winners at Metrotown - I'm not sure what possessed me to go NEAR this store. It always makes me want to die. I'm waiting in line (they are all very long and slow as hell). My line starts to look bad so I do some switching. Get stuck behind a lady who is ACTUALLY standing in line for TWO tills. I ask her which one she's waiting for. She gives me a bitchy smile and says "which ever one opens up first". Yeah, great, lady. Put your money on one and go for it. I ended up switching again and had to stand there while the clerk obsessively folded five or ten shirts for the lady in front of me. Seriously, it's xmas... shove them in a bag and get moving!

1. London Drugs Pharmacy - 4 people ahead of me. Woman comes from nowhere and stands at the front of the line. I glare at her until she moves to the back (why does no one say anything when she steps right in front of them?!). Then she proceeds to cough on me for 10 minutes as I wait in line. And not just the throat-clearing cough, but a phlegmy hacking disaster. Also, she is very much in my personal space (ie: touching my back), but if I move away, she follows. She actually came right up to the till with me too. I'm just glad I didn't catch the Plague from her...

I swear, I'm a very patient person! I just can't stand lining up because no one DOES it right...

End of my rant. Feel free to add your own. I'm sure at this time of year, everyone is more frustrated that usual!
