Business Co-op?

I'm planning on applying for co-op program either next summer or fall semester. I'm just curious on how tough is it to get hired? I prefer a co-op job in Toronto actually, as I'm planning to work there after I graduated. I'm third year Accounting&Finance major, my gpa is 3.07 last semester (probably gonna drop after the end of this semester:sad:)

    Maintain an above 3.0 GPA. Anything below and you may not be able to get in because it's getting more and more competitive each year.
    Other than that, it's not hard to get in. Application process takes at least 2 semesters, then 1 semester to seek before your actual co-op term, because you have to complete BOL1 and BOL2. So you have to think about the timing since you're already in third year.
    What job you get depends on YOU; they don't find jobs for you- just more jobs are available for you to find.

    I did co-op and it was the best thing I've ever done. Your GPA's not overly important, nevertheless employers do look at it. Like vonnie said, keep it above 3.0 and you'll be good, although I know plenty of people that have their GPAs below that and have gotten awesome jobs.

    Basically, if you type up a killer cover letter, you'll probably get an interview. If you're good at interviewing, you've got a good chance of getting the job. It's all about your charisma and professionalism at that point. If you're applying to jobs at PWC and KPMG and stuff, they ask that you do three semesters with them (CA training). This will ultimately limit your abilities to explore other options, but if you're looking for your CA designation, you'll knock off a full year of training time. I know that they're more academically inclined, so you're looking at 3.0 being the lowest they'll accept, and it's competitive (I know that Deloitte looks for a minimum of 3.33). If you're just looking at any other job, a 3.07 should be no hindrance:)

    Yea, I'm going to try applying for jobs @CA training office this fall... i dont really mind working for midsize firms actually

    So.... I'm thinking of applying for co-op as well. But I'm thinking of doing a concentration in MIS, and I haven't really heard much about MIS co-op jobs. Has anyone here?

    Can people do co-op outside of canada?

    I'm in MIS/IB. I've done 3 co-ops and doing a 4th in the Fall. You can do lots with MIS... I was a project manager at HSBC, a decisions support analyst at CLBC and I'm going to be a Report & Tools developer at RIM.
