I only have one math grade which was 58% of math 11 but i have all 85%+ of other courses.
My offer has just been rescinded. Do i have any chance to get it back?

  • how on earth did you get 58% in math 11?
  • im really not good at math
  • Can't you still get in because they only calculate Gr. 12 courses and if you failed Math 11 you need to take FAN X11?
  • what does that mean by can't i still get in? you mean i cannot get my offer or i can?
  • they have already sent me an e-mail to tell me that my offer has been rescinded.
  • Well if it says you can't get in then you can't get in. Go to Dougie College and get some transfer credits, they have a good bridging program with SFU.

Not sure why you get rejected just for getting a low math grade in Gr. 11 though. Why don't you e-mail admissions.
  • SFU requires 60% in math 11.  Are you at a BC high school?

I don't think you have a chance getting in for September because once deadlines pass, it's difficult to get in.

I would recommend taking math 11 in summer school if you can and try to get into SFU for January.
  • i gonna call them to talk about this issue
i have my own reason for it
i have already got the offer but they took it back i think i didnt pass the deadline my other courses are really good and i even recieve offers from UT and UBC but i just want to get in SFU
  • -o- UT and UBC...and you come to SFU...Cool~
  • Wow what the heck that is so weird. I had 53% in Math 11 and I got in to Beedie and my offer has not been rescinded. I just got an email about 3 weeks ago saying that I need 60% in Math 11 OR 12 and 60% in English 12 to keep my offer + 70% average on my courses used to calculate my admission average.

They shouldn't be revoking you at this moment. They will only revoke you in July if they see you have not fulfilled the requirements. Are you taking Math12 right now? If not... then I see why'd they revoke you.
  • i did not take math anymore grade11 math was the only math that i took
  • that's exactly why then. You need to either retake a Math 11 or take Math 12 since your initial Math 11 grade is below their general requirements.
  • Math 12 is easier than Math 11. I remember taking 11 in summer school... the material was so dense and we usually go through 3-4 chapters a day with a test every week.
  • Have to agree with Tofu lol. Math 12 > Math 11
  • wtf I heard it's completely opposite. I found Math 11 easier than Math 10 lol. And I didn't take Math 12 cuz I heard how hard it was. What's wrong with you people.
  • Math 12>Math10>Math11.

10 was just linear functions. 11 was mostly quadratics. 12 was a bunch of mash up.

11 covered several useless topics... which is probably why I didn't do well/like the course.
  • What faculty are you applying to? Science? Engineering?

I guess they changed the standards huh? I got in with 50% on Math 11

  • Did you take math 12?
  • @elliont. yes. my math 12 overrides my math 11 mark
  • If i take math 12 in summer?
can i get enrolled for Fall semester?
  • I really doubt it.  You won't be done math 12 until end of July/early August and classes start in September.  Your offer of admission was rescinded, so you haven't been accepted to the university.  It will be well past the deadline then.

Chalk this one up as a life lesson.  You had 1-2 years to get your math requirements in order.  You'll have to get used to meeting deadlines (whether for admissions or class work).
