Isn't this basically math 12? Or is that the other one? Either way of course it's not going to be difficult. Just do the homework, go to office hours or math workshop of you have trouble. These are basic prep courses. If you can't pass it then I don't think you'll have much luck in any of your classes.. Just saying.
FANX99 is not an easy course, many students are surprised to find out that they have to take it, not knowing when they arrived here at SFU. There is a 50% fail rate, the TAs are all horrible, as they are Math geniuses and have no clue how many people do not get math that well. So there is no compassion and no understanding from those guys. Be prepared to take it twice, but try your best and attend every class and tutorial as that helps.
FAN X99 is designed for students who haven't completed high school math for any reason. This makes it hard for them because they have a lot of math to catch up on. I've been tutoring students who took this course for about 3 years now. I've come to know the course and the students well. They're capable students and generally do well in their other courses. But I've seen them struggle with math because the basic concepts haven't been clearly explained to them during their high school years. Generally, they weren't given opportunities to practice the fundamentals either (e.g. multiplication, long division, fractions). Complaints I've heard from FANX students include professors teaching too fast and TAs not being helpful. With good tutoring that show students how to tackle math math problems and extra time dedicated to practicing on their own, most of the students I've worked with have improved and some even excelled. To do well in this course. I encourage you to look for a tutor who explains clearly, teaches you the skills, and encourages you to practice math problems.
