How difficult is Cmpt 150?

edited December 2013 in General
I plan on taking it next semester with Bobby Chan. I will have an additional 13 credits of other upper division stuff going along with it. I'm considering dropping it if it's too time consuming. What's it like? I've already done Cmpt 120. 125. 225. 300.

  • If you haven't taken it yet you should. It is not too difficult, and is actually more interesting than I expected it to be. But yeah you should probably get on that so that you don't fall too far behind in the systems courses. What other courses are you taking?
  • Thanks, I only recently decided to do a Cmpt minor. Im doing a math major so I've got 3 upper division math (which I already know are gunna be very time consuming) + Cmpt 454. I don't want to take it unless it'll be straight forward.
  • Bobby is a great teacher. Just go to all his lectures, take good notes, and study for the exams.
  • Ah, if you are just doing a minor it is less important. I would say it is an easy course, but not an effortless one. Are you required to take 150/250 or a course that requires them? Also is there a reason you have raced to take 454?
  • I haven't really raced to take 454. Well I saw John Edgar was teaching 354 in surrey and I like him, so I just went with it. I did well in 354, so I figured taking 454 would be the best course to take.

I need 150 and either 275 or 250. I kinda want to take 470 in the summer which needs 150 as a prereq. (470, 275, 100 level bhum, macm 316 in the summer. Then my last 4 math courses in the fall and I'm done wooooooo)
