French placement test?

Can anyone tell me what the format is for the French placement test (e.g. any oral component, short answer, multiple choice, reading...)? I realize it isn't the kind of thing you're meant to study for (that would defeat the purpose), but I struggle with some types of test-taking and I want an idea of how long it might take me so that I can figure out which day I might be able to take it without being late for things later in the afternoon. Also, for anyone who has done the assessment - do you get your results immediately? A few days later? I'm hoping to know my placement pretty quickly so that I can register. Thanks!

  • Hey! I don't know if you took the placement test already but..
It is a mixture of multiple choices (done on a computer), short answer and fill-in-the-blanks (which you write on paper)
The computer generates your result and a french instructor will correct your paper right when you're done - so you get your results pretty much right away.
There is no oral component as such - I mean where they test your ability to speak french.
[I took the test 2 years ago though :p ]
