To those who did co-op, help!

So all i know is that my first day is on May 6th but that's it. 
I haven't recieved any emails from anyone yet and it's getting me worried.

I don't know what time to start or what to bring or what to wear.

I tried emailing the HR in the company and the co-op office at SFU but no replies.

What do I do? Do i call or just wait till they contact me? May 6th is the coming Monday btw.

I would probably call coop. If they don't answer then maybe try to call someone at the company. I have only had experience with big companies, and they have always been very organized and I knew months in advance what my first day was going to be like.

Worst case scenario though show up at 9, and wear something on the high end of what you think you are supposed to wear.

I have done two co-ops already. First day is always orientation, starting at 9am. Wear business casuals. Dress pants, nice dress shirts and dress shoes. Both companies I co-op at supply you with office supplies. You'll listen to a talk by someone important, or HR will talk to you, show you around etc., then you go to your desk and start setting up your work environment. 

Are you sure you were hired at that company? They seem incredibly incompetent if you haven't even received an email yet.

They made me do a criminal record check and NSERC so i'm sure im already hired. i just havent gotten any additional information

Looks to be an unprofesional organization. Then again, pretty much all govn't organizations are unprofesional and resembles this so meh. See how it is Monday.

it was good. There were only 2 of us co-ops and apparently i was the one that reminded her to send us the package and information since the other guy got it around the same time i did. First half of the day was orientation and the second half was us just playing around with software and getting used to our workstations. I can work anytime from 6 am to 6pm as long as i complete 8 hours in a day :)

oh congrats! how much does coop pay?

depends on where you are cooping. For computer science in canada most jobs will likely be between 2500-4000 a month. That said though you could make less, or a lot more.

Anyone know if the UPass fee is mandatory? its $140

i just sell it for like $50-60 each. it adds up more than the fee

You can get exempt from the upass if you are doing coop outside of the lower mainland. Just have to change your address on sis.

or if you know for a fact that your work place can not be reached by transit then you can exempt
