econ 103 with nebile barkin?

edited December 2013 in General
hey all, just wanted to know if anyone has taken econ 103 with Nebile Barkin and is it a good idea to take it with calc 157, eng 103w and hsci 100? My only other option would be to take it with Doug Allen which people say is suicide and there's not much about Barkin on ratemyprof so I'm undecided who to take it with. Any feedback or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

  • Are you in business? If yes you should be taking econ 103 and 105 in your first year regardless how hard the workload and who is teaching them =)

People seem to really like doug allen or really dislike him. One thing people seem to agree on though is that he is the most knowledgeable of the intro econ profs and that if you want to take the class in which you will learn the most his is the one to take. Is it the easiest econ 103? probably not. If you are doing business or econ it will get a lot tougher though so you might as well find out now if it is actually a topic you are interested in pursuing or not.

Here is an old thread where they compare the two profs you mention briefly. From the sounds of it, I would go with allen. http://talksfu.ca/forum/discussion/7854/econ-103-with-nebile-barkin-or-douglas-allen/p1

  • Don't take 103 and 105 the same term. The advisors say not to do that because the concepts are too easily mixed up. But yes, just take it, listen to what ryan says.
  • Ya I'm in business and I finished econ 105 in fall. Thanks for the suggestions guys
  • @ryan how the hell did you know there was a past thread about stuff?
