Anyone lost their licence?

Me and my friends were out partying the other day me and one of em got pulled over after he had a couple beers. He only had a couple of beers so he blew under the limit but because he still has his N he got nailed with a 24 hour suspension! Does anyone know what happens next ? If he gets his licence prohibited he's pretty much screwed because he won't be able to come to school anymore

    If it's just a 24 hour suspension, how does that prevent him from coming to school? And you can get to school on public transit very easily.

    For the record, he's an idiot for driving after drinking, and you're an idiot for getting in the car with him.

    Call a sober friend, take a cab or the bus, or just crash at whoever's house you're at.

    im pretty sure with him being a N his licence is gone; Rules are rules so dont do the crime if you cant do the time

    I hate this statement because rules are ever so subjective. Rules are not right by virtue of being rules. Anyway...

    The important point here is the one Malakaii raised: he's an idiot for driving, especially with an N, and you especially dumb for getting in the car with him. A few beers when driving is a few too many.

    Your friend cost himself for that little bit with the beers. People with "N" decals are required to blow ZERO on a BAC meter, regardless of the fact that there's an 0.08 limit.

    Note that "If you receive a driving prohibition in your novice stage, any time you have accumulated toward graduating out of GLP will be lost. When your licence has been reinstated following the prohibition, you will have to accumulate an additional 24 consecutive prohibition-free months to be eligible to graduate to GLP" is a likely scenario.

    I have to agree with everyone else on this thread. Its his own dumb fault for getting his licence taken away. I cant believe that people still drink and drive these days. Its idiotic. We all know what can happen.

    ok he blew under the limit so hes not drunk and driving around, so hes not a moron who gets hammered and drives. and yeah most likely in a few weeks he'll get a thing in the mail saying his license is being suspended for 2-3 months... then he has to go into icbc and give him his license and from then on the suspension starts... then he has to do the 24 months over again... or w/e the length is.

    driving after having any amount of alcohol is considered as an act of a moron

    yeah cuz u know one sip of non-alcoholic beer... which technically has some alcohol in it, THEN driving, is moronic!!!!!!

    If driving while UNDER the limit is so bad then why is it legal? You guys make me laugh sometimes...anyways, its the N that causes the problems. Anyways, he found out today and Toast is right, since its his first offence he will only get a one month suspension from the day he turns his licence in. I guess its not so bad, he can always take the bus

    Yeah, it sucks, but the rules are the rules; if your friend claims he wasn't aware of them, then whoever taught him to drive needs to be slapped upside the head, because it's right there in the PDF of the booklet you can pick up at any driver licencing place, where it says you can potentially be required to re-do all two years of the Novice program if you get hit with an alcohol-related motor vehicle offence.

    Hey, I didn't write the law. If you think it's a bad system, write to ICBC and the Ministry of Transportation and say why you think it should be changed.
