    I just saw it in the theatres. Funny! But probably better as a rental. No reason to pay 10 bucks. I got a snuggle and a makeout out of it though, so I consider it money well spent. :p Unless you can bring along a chick with loose morals, wait for the rental.

    The movie was super cute. I laughed quite a bit in it.

    The movie was an absolute fucking travesty and a mockery to The Simpsons as a show. Maybe one or two moments in which it was marginally funny but the rest of the movie was just demented. It pales in comparison to The Simpsons episodes of the early and mid 90s. The fact that the movie modernized the show was intolerable.

    Do not watch something at a theatre that you watch at home for free ;-)

    The Simpsons from Season 4-9 were the golden years for them. If the show was only those episodes, I'd safely say that it was the funniest show ever. But since then, the quality has dipped tremendously. They went from funny dialogue and situations to just toilet/physical humour, and just plain outrageously stupid situations that aren't that funny.

    With that said, I think the Simpsons movie is something a Simpsons fan from back in the day should see, but it's still a departure from Seasons 4-9. I found a lot of it to be pretty funny, but if this movie were made back in 1996, it would be gold.

    I know exactly what you mean and I'd say the golden years of the show were from seasons 3 to 7 while seasons 1, 2, 8, and 9 were all right (but far better than the episodes of today).

    Nowadays the show is filled with celebrity guest stars (every new episode will have one guest star), absurd situations, and demented humour. In my opinion, the show started going downhill because the producers and writers simply ran out of issues and ideas to explore, which is why the new episodes are so demented. And I doubt whether a Simpsons fan (who's been watching the show from the beginning) would enjoy the movie. I've been watching the show for the longest time and utterly detest the movie and all the new spins they put on it.

    If the movie were more like a mid-90s episode it would be immeasurably better than the trash in theatres now :angry:; I rest my case.

    I hear you. Which is why I walked into the movie with the mindset of not comparing it to the "golden years", and just watch it as it is. Inevitably, comparisons will be made, and for sure, it's nowhere NEAR the quality of writing during those years. I stopped watching the Simpsons after Season 10-11, because it was just getting way to stupid.

    On another note, I heard Futurama was coming back. That was a series that never let me down, hope they do bring it back.

    Four 'Futurama' Films Announced


    Makers of the popular Fox TV show, 'Futurama', announced this week at San Diego's Comic-Con Convention that they plan to make four full-length movies of the cancelled show, all of which will go straight to DVD.

    The first is due out in November this year and has been titled 'Futurama: Bender's Big Score'. Guest stars will include Al Gore -- whose daughter worked as a writer on the show -- and Coolio. The full original cast have all signed back on.

    'Futurama' ran on Fox from 1999-2003 and won an Emmy before it was cancelled by the network. 'Bender's Big Score' will see Bender being persuaded to go back in time to pre-global warming Earth, to plunder the planet of its riches.

    I think I just soiled myself.

    Futurama would still be on the air today if they didn't continually screw around with the time-slot. Nobody knew what time it was on, because it kept changing. Too bad, because not one episode of Futurama failed to entertain me, and the writing was always smart.
