When is your enrolment date and what classes do you plan on taking - Spring 08

edited December 2007 in General
Well, these two topics were eventually going to be made as they are for every semester. So the questions are, what are you planning on taking and when is your enrolment date?

For me, my enrolment date is on 20 November at 12:30. It's a pretty late date so I hope I can get into my criminology classes as I don't want to do them via distance ed.

I plan to take: CMPT 275, and 371, MACM 201, and CRIM 101 and 131.

As a quick note, I am going into my fourth semester.

Nov 20 at 830 am I didnt think anyone had a worse date than me. Gotta love being in your first semester after transfer with a N/A GPA. I wonder if first year first semesters have a better reg date than me. I havent even bothered deciding what courses to take as they have a high probability of being full and I dont feel like making some giant schedule thatll have to be reorganized after not being able to get some courses

I've never not been able to get into a course, and I had a pretty dismal GPA for a while, there. If you can't get into a course, don't be afraid to waitlist. As long as you waitlist early, you'll usually get in as people drop the class to rearrange their schedule, and if you don't the prof will usually bump you in when the semester starts.

I'm going to take a bunch random electives, since I need to fulfill requirements. 100 or 200-level ones in Sociology/Anthro and Physics. Haven't made up my mind on the others b/c I'm not sure what other courses are good to take just as electives. Any suggestions?

Pixie I really honestly doubt that you or any sane person want to mix cmpt 300 AND 275 in the same semester. Not only are you going to have to be stressing from the giant group project that 275 brings and the frustrations of your group as well, but you want to do that along side cmpt 300 which happens to have Bart teaching it. Good luck, you are going to want to kill yourself.

If you want to take a cmpt 3xx class this semester as well, think about 371 which is fairly easy and you get to have JC Liu teaching it.

That's why I wrote cmpt 275 OR cmpt 300 - i am not crazy enough to take both of them =)

Ok good, because even though I have done six classes successfully, I would never do both of those classes at the same time.

and ill probably take...... 4 crim courses and 1 SA.
which ones, who knows, depends what I can get into. lol
  • edited November 2007
    nov21 yey..not.

still have to decide on my courses. the ones that i might have a glimpse of hope of getting into.

    I've got Nov 21 too.

It sure seems like I always get screwed on the registration date. I don't get it. My GPA isn't bad but I've been getting late registration dates since I got accepted to SFU. I even had an entrance scholarship but I STILL got bad registration dates compared to other people I know in the same situation.

Ok, so I don't pay my SFU parking tickets.. but they can't trace that to me 'cause i haven't registered my car with them yet.

I've heard that the people who applied to SFU early get a really good student number and based on this they get highest priority to registering early as well. It could be that or the entrance scholarship. I registered pretty early and got that scholarship. My registration date was on Mon. Nov 9.

crim 315 and crim 355 are the only two exceptions. you don't have to be declared to enroll in them.
  • edited November 2007
ah i thought there was something like that but the crim outlines arent consistent it says in so many places only for declared majors, but i could have swore i saw something saying you could take some of them, good to know
