I hear ya. ITunes is fuckin' ridiculous, why couldn't they have made it simpler? You know, just transfer the songs you want, remove the songs you don't want, and that's that. If Apple got rid of the iTunes requirement for the iPods, they would control even more of the MP3-player market.
i'm trying out copytrans manager, it says it supports itunes 7.6, which in turn should support my new 3rd gen ipod nano. although i only tested it on my first gen shuffle i use for the gym lol
Another useful thing you can do with some of those iTunes alternatives is install them to the ipod, rather than the computer. That way you can transfer music on any computer.
I have this amazing way of working around this, it's called not buying iPods since there isn't much about them that makes them superior to other mp3 players
i've looked into and tried installing older itunes versions tried 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 7.6 tried modifying itunes files via a tutorial i found, still didn't work
regarding the alternative programs, i've found an alternate music manager for the ipod to transfer songs onto it.
regarding not buying apple products, when i first started looking for mp3 players in general, i already knew not to buy apple ipods due to the fact that i knew it would be trouble to make it sync with my computer's OS system (have a first gen shuffle used for the gym) i was looking at the creative zen 4gb that would end up 140$ after taxes
however someone is selling me their ipod nano 3rd gen(newest one) 8gb for 140$ as well (he moves onto new gadgets all the time) so i guess it's worth the trouble in a way to get a mp3 player with twice the memory and better resale value.

The only reason people buy it is because of conformity.. everyone has one..so I should have one too!

do not know how to say. when i first use it, i also find difficulty, still a bit now. But sometimes more try will work out. It takes time. For me, i am quite slow in adopting electronic stuff, eg, computers, cellphones, ipod...each one takes me longer and longer time than my friends. I cannot help to answer yr question. but i hope u will work it out.
I hate apple too, but what did you expect when you chose Windows XP x64 as your OS? Microsoft has made no requirements for software and hardware manufacturers to support the OS (as they do with Vista x64), and it has a very minimal set of compatible software/drivers for it. If you chose it just so windows could utilize 4GB of memory, that's pretty pointless as the costs outweigh the benefits by far!
i have to jump on the i hate apple bandwagon, my FUCKING ipod keeps breaking down and not being recognized by my apple laptop. this is my 4th ipod and the only one to give me such troubles. damn ipod nano video =( i want my old non video ipod nano back

Unless you have a very new ipod, those should work fine.
