I thought about enrolling in this course. However, Professor Kuhn's review on RateYourProfessor.com scared me away...

i took ws 102 (distance ed). its not bad, i found it kinda boring b/c i wasn't really interested in the class. there are 3 assignments (2 definitions and a mini essay), 1 essay and an open book final. its easy not to keep up b/c you don't really have to have done all the readings for the assignments/essay.

    ookay :)
my course didnt fill up until last minute :P
online it says my prof is TBA
but at the bookstore it says Paul McFertidge...
I'll let you know how it goes!
my friend took ling 110 in spring with Yourie Pankratz..
and if you know Pankratz - it was a disaster...
i took ling 100 with him and it was basically a self-study course.
he was nice and everything; emailed us notes and 12 pages of questions that students emailed him about the course material.
I thought he'd realize how bad he was teaching the course since there were 12 pages of questions! .. guess not
but partially not his fault cuz people kept talking in class because nobody "understood" him cuz of his thick accent.
(you can actually understand him if you try :P)
so BEWARE! if you dont like to self-study - you should go to the ling department and check out whose the prof before taking the class! :)

^Thanks for the tip! I don't want to enroll when the prof is TBA... I'll be a first year with some credits next semester so I'll be at the end of the list registering, I guess I'll try calling someone at SFU and ask before I enroll.

No you would not. Get out of Phil xx1 NOW or you will regret it for the rest of your semester.

That goes for any Philosophy class (in my opinion).

This is true. Avoid Philosophy like the plague.

It fucks with your mind. And when you think you're right, you're far from it. It's a stupid subject; I barely passed and it was the lowest grade I have ever gotten so far (C-).

I could be wrong though! You may be good at it. Maybe you'll have an excellent TA or something. Eh. Good luck.
