CHEM 126...tough? easy? hell?!

edited November 2008 in General
I'm taking CHEM 122 next semester, and am thinking about including CHEM 126 with it. But I have heard conflicting comments about the course. The instructors are going to be Gurpreet Mund, and Sophie Lavieri.

Are these labs of similar difficulty as our labs in CHEM 121? Do we get walkthroughs and stuff like that?

Chem 126 is slightly more difficult than the 121 lab portion, but not much so. It's more work, because it's every week instead of every second week. They do a lot of review, though.

easy-fair course but you have to work for it.

The course is pretty closely aligned with the lectures in 122. Follow along with the notes and make sure you use your textbook. The lab manual covers the theory but refers you to the text for more info, and your 122 notes will also help with this.

And if you have trouble, go to the course's office hours. A TA will (usually) be there. :P

ill be doing this course in the summer...so behind in chem..
but from what i hear, this course is pretty easy as long as you prepare for the labs and keep p in 122

It is. Read the lab manual and procedure for each lab before you come to do the lab. In general the people who do this advance prep properly tend to find they get the labs done faster.

Also: if you're finding chem 122 hard you will tend to find 126 hard as well, so this is why I strongly say to go to your course's office hours. We TAs get paid to help you. :P
