I use Shaw and I live all the way in Vancouver. It's been going on and off for me since last night.

^I guess we Rez people can't blame our current slower than average internet service on our usual scapegoat: RezNet.

Shaw is horrible. I used to have them and they would always cut me off whenever I start downloading or uploading via BT. I have Telus now and they're much better.

    Experience may vary.

i have a grandfathered contract with shaw... no band width limit and i never get cut off.

I've heard horror stories from both shaw and telus users... in the end shaw can give u higher speeds on avg. (but then again that could change if they put more people on the network and give smaller timeshares :P)

Shaw's apparently upgrading their 5Mbps High-Speed to 7Mbps and 10Mbps Extreme(or whatever it's called) to 15Mbps soon, so that's exciting. I haven't any problems with Shaw for awhile, and have been torrenting gigs and gigs of stuff.. no problems yet. :)

Btw, for anyone on Shaw's High-Speed internet service and still has one of those old Terayon modems that look like:
    terayon.jpg

Chances are your speeds are bottlenecked to around 1-2Mbps.. go call'em up for a free modem upgrade. Did that a couple months ago, speeds went from ~700Kbps back to around 5Mbps, where it should be. So many years of non-actual high speed :(

I'm trying out Extreme-I for one month free. I'm already getting ~15Mbps.

I have one of those old modems! I called Shaw today and they said there's something wrong with my signal and they're going to send a technician on Wednesday. Should I call again and tell them that I i need a modem upgrade or will they probably end up doing that on Wednesday?
