if you can't trust her when she says she is taking the pill then there's no way you will last in a relationship with her. Trust or gtfo!
I too agree that trust in very important in a relationship, especially when it comes to sex. However, when it comes to the pill and birth control, can't the guy too play a part by wearing condom?

I do not believe that a condom will make sex less pleasurable, but then, I am an ignorant virgin...

Exactly. All comedy aside, it really is disgusting and should only be used in extreme circumstances (rape, incest, etc). Otherwise, the girl is just an idiot and is hurting herself in the process.
Agree! I just wish that more people share your position.

People do bitch that using condoms "lessens the feeling", but common sense would dictate safety over entertainment. I don't think that 'extra little bit' compensates for needing to see a doctor, that's for damn sure!

I've always wondered that actually lOL. Why do ppl in the ghettos of America always bitch about "yeah it's so hard, or it's so difficult the hood life, when you got like 5 baby mamas and 6 kids". What's so hard about wearing a condom???

Why don't you go ask these to every nation in Africa...?

Its not in their culture, it doesn't negate their personal resposibility but clearly theres something more than "stop having kids" at work here.

I don't think its disgusting at all, if someone does not want to have a kid, why force them? The loser in the end is the child who is going to be neglected or abused, dumped on a doorstep or alleyway...

I'm pro abortion, not so people can go around having abortions as a substitute for using condoms, but for saving children undue hardship. Damaging childhoods have effects that lead to depression, drug / alchol abuse, bad interpersonal relationships and even suicide / or murder from the former associations.

but it sounds like your friend was doing it for birth control.

Seriously, if she is doing that without guilt, she must be one cold, dumb bitch.

Well the one time her then "boyfriend" threatened to kill her if she didn't get an abortion (she isnt a good friend of mine at all, I just hear the stories from time to time).

If you think girls go around having abortions without guilt you're mistaken too, as dumb as she is she's told me stories of how she thinks about each one of them.

You shouldn't be worrying about others feeling guilt...seriously. It really is none of your business to judge in that aspect.

No skin off my nose. I'm pro-abortion - can't be any other way 'cause if I'm anti, I'm being more than a tad self-righteously hypocritical. Why? Because I'm a guy, and last I looked, guys can't carry babies. So women, who have to bear the bulk of the burden of raising a child, would be forced to do so for my moral convenience.

Sorry, but that's not a fair trade at all, no sir.

Women should be able to get abortions for whatever reason they deem necessary. Just tell me how much taxes to pay. :teeth:

    +1 for that post.

I had a thought as well, IVT next time my dumb friend is pregnant again and wants to have an abortion, are you willing to take care of her child if she doesn't have the abortion for your sake :teeth: ? I'll ask her if so.

Wait, I thought you don't believe in abortion. Isn't the main premise of the anti-abortion stance that fetus are living beings, and that they care that people are killing them? If you don't care what happens to the kids, then why do you think abortion is wrong?

Anyway she may be dumb for having so many abortions and never telling the guy to put on a condom, but it is sad when she actually wanted to keep that kid but he didn't want to have anything to do with a kid, and didn't want to pay child support.

I can only imagine what would happen if she kept the baby and the child had a father who threatened to kill the mother.

...and you mention you think his balls should be removed, well from what I heard he took steroids and his balls were pretty small as is

when someone gets murdered i don't care because i don't know that person. I still believe murder is wrong
  • edited January 2009
You care about murder, only when its someone you know. You care about abortion, but don't care about what happens to the kids after they are born.

Do you not see any discordance in your statements?

The reality is we can back and forth all day, but I'll leave your Christian morals at this (which I find surprising):

There are alternatives. If the girl forgets to take the pill, or there's no condom (decisions made by either person, indirectly), there's the option of Plan B or similar. I understand where you come from in saying that it could be best to not bring up a child in circumstances like you mentioned, but for goodness sake, educate yourself and own up to your decisions if, god forbid, you get pregnant. People can change, situations can change. It's all about responsibility and if you're not ready for that, don't have sex. My philosophy anyway.

I was referring to the process itself that's disgusting. I would rather not be some dumb bitch going to the clinic every second month because I can't figure out this wonder that is birth control.

And yet it happens every day. To thousands if not millions of people. In order to formulate a better opinion about important issues, it helps if one tries to learn more about what is going on outside the small field of vision which bounds the narrow worldview one may have acquired through very limited life experience.

In my mind I was referring to all processes that 'eliminate' the fetus or embryo, but I see your point if you're merely talking about procedure, as it is invasive and dangerous. (as I think someone like IVT would consider Plan B murder as well)

And its true, if people aren't prepared to have children maybe they should not have unprotected sex.

My main concern as you mentioned though is the child, its one thing for people to say no abortions, no plan B, but another to actually offer an alternative about the life the child will be born into.

    Adoption.

It is an alternative, but not always a great one considering the damaging emotional effects adoption can have.

If the person doesn't find someone ahead of time they'll end up in the foster care system or worse. A lot of adopted children who know they are adopted have feelings of not being wanted, even worse so for foster children. Rates of crime for foster children are really high, which says something of the life they are born into.

I don't even think we are on different pages here, I think people should be more responsible with their bodies, late term abortions are dangerous even to a woman's health. If someone thinks they are pregnant deal with it right away.

I don't know the laws regarding late term abortions, I mean I don't think someone should have an abortion in their 8th month unless they know about congenital birth defects or a risk to the mothers life. But its not my place to say at what point people can control their own bodies, if someone doesn't want a child at 5 months and are told they have to, who knows what they will do when the child is born.

As I said before, its my own personal belief that you should not have children if you don't want them, or can't take care of them. The world is over populated as is, and a potential child doesn't need the damage of a neglectful upbringing.

I wasn't trying to convey any logic either, I was pointing out illogical propositions. :teeth: I just figured as a student in the scien... er applied sciences you would be big on logic.

Btw to keep this topical and current, apparently students for life, some student group had made a make-shift burial ground of dead babies with a cross on campus, which I think is highly inappropriate.

Had I been on Burnaby campus I would have defaced it along with the other people that did as well. I'm sure it would have made anyone whos had an abortion for a legitimate reason feel great.

Generally, whether you are for abortion or not, the major point here is that girls should control themselves from having sex before marriage.

From the point of religion, it is a sin to have sex before marriage. So, why would you do that and end up inflicting yourself with side effects that abortion might cause or take the burden of bringing up an 'illegitimate baby'?

Let us be realistic: encourage early marriage and STOP advocating for abortion.
