[QUOTE=randomuser;22118]I was actually willing to pay someone to drive me down the hill, but this guy was really nice, he even drove me all the way home downtown, all I really wanted was to the bottom of the hill.
He was kinda cute I got his number, he had a nice car too
I guess you play life on the safe side more than I do.
...
I dont want to live my life in fear
Ummm ok, well i guess because i look out for my safety and well being that i play life on the "safe side". Im absolutely fine with that and not getting into cars with strangers and playing it "safe".
How is not getting in a car with a random stranger "living in fear"? Sorry, your argument doesnt make sense, and i think you know that.
So, if I started posting stories about people being shot or stabbed at clubs, and mind you clubbing is statistically much more dangerous than hitchiking, you would stop going to clubs? I mean, safety first, right?
oh come on guys don't attack her all at once.. she's just looking out for random by pointing out hitchhiking can be risky.. and she didn't rule out all ppl who pick up hitchhikers are weirdos... just that there is the possibility that he could be dangerous.. after all.. you hear about pedos and murderers stalking near schools and day cares.. it's not so surprising if they decide to start stalking uni's..

Thank you. Thats all i was trying to say.
Anyways, whatever, people are gonna do what they're gonna do. When i was in my first year, my CRIM 101 TA told us a story of how she used to hitch hike up SFU mountain everyday cuz it was "easier" when she was an undergrad. She was super pretty and told us that she never had any problems and it was really easy to get a ride. Then she told us that one day, a guy picked her up and drove her up the mountain. She said he looked super nice and "normal", but that he drove in a different direction than where she wanted to go. She was like, "what are you doing?" and he told her to shut up. He dragged her out of the car, kicking and screaming, and into the woods and tried to rape her telling her to shut up or else he would stab her with knife. But she kept screaming and some people heard her. The guy freaked and ran to his car and drove away and she ran out of the woods crying to the people who heard her screaming. She said she never hitch hiked again after that day.
This is a true story, i didnt make it up. She warned us of the dangers of it cuz someone in class said that they hitchhiked a lot. And this happened at SFU! Yes, you can be killed by a drunk driver or trip down a hill and break your neck, but those things are sometimes unpreventable. Getting into a car with a random stranger is preventable. So why put yourself in that situation? My argument makes complete sense whether you guys agree with it or not.

But nonetheless, ive made my point.
But just for your own reading, maybe look at what happened to this girl when she wandered off with random strangers when she was in Aruba. This stuff does happen:

Good luck with your next hitch hiking adventure. For me tho, im gonna "play it safe" and only get in my own car or in cars with people i know well. :)
